Flash Design & Programming

What is Flash? To put it simply, Flash is a means to showcase images, movement, sound and interaction over the Internet, on CD ROM or stand-alone applications. Flash has grown throughout the years and what started as a great way to show animations on the Internet has developed into a full fledged application design program.

Below you will find some examples of the different implementations of Flash:

Full Flash Web Sites

Kanwar Krishen & Associates, Ltd.

KKAPL

The KKAPL web site is a breath of fresh air and creativity for an otherwise dry industry. The audience for the KKAPL web site are comprised of both engineers and "common folk". The design was created to appeal to both facets of this audience by combining fun interactivity with serious information. The site features a stop watch which keeps the correct time as well as an interactive hand-held device with a hidden game. Can you find it?

Zekeske

Zekeske

David Zitin, a skilled professional photographer, wanted a site to showcase his talents in a way that would set him apart from the rest. The Zekeske.com website integrates a custom built dynamic photo gallery which is maintained by David. The site also offers visitors a standard form-to-email which allows anyone to contact David simply by visiting his website.

Flash Components on Web Sites

The Constitutional

The Constitutional

We created a dynamic Flash based map which allows a user to click on any one of the 33+ sites offered on the walking tour and view information about that site. The information is fed into the Flash component from a database which is maintained by the client. Users are presented with an image of the site, address, phone number and a small description.

Taglia Custom Shirts

Taglia Custom Shirts

In order to "jazz" up the Taglia Custom Shirts site, we opted to use a variety of Flash components on the website. First off we use Flash to create some image fading on the homepage and then with the use of "scrollers" we are able to display over 20 fabric swatches and over 30 collar and cuff styles in limited real estate. Each of these components in no way take away from the user experience in that they are not intrusive but rather fit just right.

MyPhotoLounge

MyPhotoLounge

As customers order digital prints from My Photolounge, they are offered an option of adding decorative borders to their photos. In order to showcase the different border offerings, we created a flash component on the homepage which lets users view the different border options.

Chris Hensel Photography

Chris Hensel Photography

Chris Hensel wanted a little "pizzazz" added to his website but didn't want to distract users from what was important: his photo samples. We came up with a simple image scroller which slowly scrolls an array of images accross the top of the home page. The speed of the images was a big consideration as if it is too fast, users will not be able to read the text on the page, too slow and they may not see more than 3 or four images. After some testing we came up with a good balance allowing users to read as well as showcasing some great photos.
